The use of guided drilling is part of the special, uncovered technology of wire laying. Directional drilling allows continuous drilling up to 300 m depending on soil and pipe diameter. Navigation is a prerequisite for accurate drilling. Control is through a transceiver system that tracks and changes the position, tilt and direction of the drill bit throughout the drilling process. The driller continuously monitors all measured data and records control corrections.
After the completion of the guided pilot drilling, an expansion head is replaced in place of the drill head. Once the correct diameter has been reached, the utility or protective tube is retracted.
